The Pope arrived in Brazil on Monday 22 July.

The official reception was at Rio de Janeiro/Gale?o–Antonio Carlos Jobim International Airport, at 4pm.

Soon after, there was the Papal Welcoming Ceremony at the garden of the Palácio Guanabara, where the Pope gave his first speech.

There were more than 3 million people on the beach joined the Ceremony and listened to the speech of the Holy Father.
